Tilhill Forestry

Overview

Established more than 60 years ago, Tilhill Forestry is a national company operating from a network of offices throughout Great Britain, with a turnover in excess of £100 million.

Tilhill Forestry is the UK’s leading forestry and timber harvesting company, offering a broad range of market leading professional consultancy and contracting services to woodland and forestry owners. Forestry, timber harvesting and the emerging biomass sector draw on their strong association with the forest industry in the UK.

The business critical issue

Tilhill Forestry’s people are the company’s strongest asset. The company is fully ISO accredited and the quality of their safety management processes and incident record have been regularly recognised at the highest levels by the annual RoSPA Awards.

With safety being of paramount importance, it became clear towards the end of 2014 that Tilhills’ incumbent lone worker system was lacking in functionality, robustness and reliability compared to the Trackplot solution.

Working with Trackplot, we have been able to set the system up to meet our needs and those of our workers. The system has brought us greater security when working alone in remote places.

How Trackplot helped

Tilhill Forestry chose Trackplot when looking for a provider for a Lone Worker Solution as we were able to provide a flexible system offering wider functionality which is scaleable and works across a range of different devices.

“Trackplot combine units that work outside of the mobile phone network with a system that monitors workers and alarms if they haven’t logged out at the end of the working day.”

Outcomes for Tilhill Forestry

Over one year on and Tilhill are using the Trackplot system throughout the UK across Scotland, England and Wales. There is an ongoing programme to continue rolling out the system to more lone workers during 2016 and beyond.
