Trackplot featured in Forestry Timber News
Forestry & Timber News feature Trackplot and the launch of our series of 3 videos in their February 2021 edition to help raise awareness of the risks faced by outdoor lone workers, the health and safety laws that need to be complied with and how our lone worker monitoring system can help lone workers keep safe.
The magazine is published by Confor, the forestry and wood sector’s trade association and this latest edition has a focus on human resources. Trackplot highlight that the Health & Safety Executive’s latest report shows that the Agriculture, forestry and fishing sector remains the most dangerous sector in the UK, with a fatal injury rate some 18 times as high as the average across all industries. The report confirms that most fatal injuries in the sector are to self-employed workers (65%) which is higher than any other industry.
The article describes how lone workers are exposed to different environmental risks, often working in hazardous locations, making their jobs inherently more dangerous. It continues by stating how an injury can become serious and potentially life threatening in such situations.
The feature discusses how the current focus on health and safety continues due to the COVID-19 pandemic and how creating a sensible approach to health and safety requires sound policies supported by practical measures. It is advised that there are regular reviews and updates to H&S policies to protect lone workers and businesses.
We appreciate the challenges faced in the forestry industry and thank you to Confor for helping us raise awareness to members. Trackplot’s purpose is to reduce risks and improve safety for lone workers.
